Cherry Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup maida for the dough for top and bottom depends on the size of the pie crust.
  • 100gms cooking butter chilled for mixing the dough
  • 3 ½ cup pitted fresh cherries, if using frozen or canned 2 ½ unpitted
  • 1/4 cup (30 grams) cornstarch
  • 2/3 to 3/4 cup (135 to 150 grams) sugar, adjusted accordingly to sweetness of cherries, if cherries are sweet avoid adding sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter, cut into small squares
  • 1 tablespoon heavy or whipping cream Optional.
  • Additional sugar for topping crust (coarse sugar is a nice option)

Procedure:

Tip: If you get ready made pie sheets it’s even easier.
